The temperatures of exhaust streams from diesel-powered construction equipment are often elevated to ensure effective operation of diesel particulate filters, in which collected soot is combusted. As a result, these exhaust systems can become extremely hot, endangering operating personnel and potentially elevating heat deterioration of nearby engine components. This was the problem presented to Kalb Corporation by an OEM of mobile cranes. We responded with a custom exhaust insulation system for the cranes known as CoolWrap250. Although all CoolWrap 250 kits originate from a standard bill of materials, our experienced custom fabricators can make a system to accommodate each customer’s unique requirements.
